Best Suited For

This lodge suits couples and families who want a comfortable, amenity-rich base close to the Namutoni Gate, with family rooms, an outdoor pool and gardens to relax in between game drives.

Practical Considerations

It is located outside Etosha National Park itself, about 8.3 km from the Namutoni Gate, so a short drive is needed before game drives can begin each day. Rooms are non-smoking throughout, and free car parking is available on site.

Location and Region

Mushara Lodge is positioned close to the Von Lindequist Gate on the eastern boundary of Etosha National Park, in the Namutoni area. This part of the park is characterised by mopane woodland and waterholes near Namutoni Fort, and it typically suits travellers wanting easy access to morning and afternoon game drives without a long transfer.

Getting There

The Von Lindequist Gate is reached from Tsumeb via a mix of tarred and gravel roads, a drive of roughly an hour, which makes this side of the park a convenient stop for travellers arriving from Namibia’s north. Guests can arrange gate permits through the lodge and plan full days of game viewing before returning in the evening.

Planning Your Trip

Because this lodge is on the park’s eastern side, it pairs well for travellers who plan to enter through the Von Lindequist Gate and explore waterholes closer to Namutoni before moving on to other areas of the park. Booking ahead is advisable during the dry season, when demand for accommodation on this side of Etosha is at its highest and gate permits are best arranged in advance. Families and couples alike will find the lodge’s location convenient for combining an Etosha safari with onward travel toward the north of Namibia.
