Guest farms are working or former farms, mostly in the countryside around Outjo, Otjiwarongo, Kamanjab and Omaruru, that have added guest accommodation and often their own wildlife activities alongside the property's original farming operation. They suit travellers who want a slower, more rural pace either side of their time in Etosha itself, combined with activities such as guided walks, horse riding or small private game drives that are not available inside the national park. Because most guest farms sit some distance from the park gates, they work well as a first or last night's stay when travelling to or from Etosha, or as an extra stop if you are exploring wider northern Namibia rather than heading straight to the park. Facilities and style vary widely, from simple farmhouse rooms with home-cooked meals to more polished lodge-style guest farms with pools and multiple activities, so it is worth checking what each property actually offers around its wildlife or farm experience.
