1. Clothing and Personal Care

Namibia has sunshine throughout the year and. It is recommended to wear sun block, a hat and sunglasses at all times.

As Namibia has a typical semi-desert climate with hot days and cool nights, warm clothing is necessary no matter what part of Namibia is visited.  When visiting during the summer it is advisable to pack lightweight cotton clothing.

Points for electric shavers are available at most hotels, rest-camps and resorts

2. Fire Arms

Handguns are not permitted for hunting in Namibia

A temporary importation permit for firearms for up to 180 days is available at all major ports of entry.

3. Malaria Prevention

While many areas in Namibia ,including parts of the conservancy, do not have malaria we recommend that a malaria prophylactic should be taken by visitors to safeguard their visit.

4. Photographer Tips

Keep film out of direct sunlight and in a cool box if available while travelling.

It is advisable to have all lenses fitted with UV or other filters due to the harsh light.

5. Road Travel

Petrol is available throughout Namibia.  However, stations do not accept credit cards as a form of payment for petrol.  Ensure that you have cash  or a petrol card.

Use of seat belts in Namibia is compulsory.

Drive carefully at night because there are many wild animals on the road.

Drive carefully, no more than 80kmph on gravel roads and switch on the headlights of your vehicle to be more visible under  dusty conditions.

Like in most countries, valuable articles in the car should be placed out of sight to not tempt petty thieves.
